Café de Mategnin

This restaurant is always on our list when we are in the area. I've been here many times and the food is always impeccable, and the service is very friendly. Even if your French is limited, the staff is helpful when you're ordering. The filet de perche is one of my favorites, and the dessert selection is always perfect. The profiteroles are great. I look forward to returning again soon.

Lovely place, next to French border, good to have a nice fondue

The food is usually delicious and we used to be regulars but they are terrible in terms of service and effort.
We had reservations for our wedding anniversary on the terrace and I left them my number in case they decided not to serve outside because of the weather - I told them that we would NOT eat inside ( not wanting to take risks with the COVID situation) and to please call. They never did - I assume they thought that once we were there we would stay... they left us scrambling to find another good local restaurant.
If they treat repeat clients like that, I wonder what they do with the rest. We are never going back again.
At least we have discovered some good alternatives since then...

It's a reliable place to go for a work lunch. They offer several specials each day which are served quickly. They have a nice terrace which is pleasant when the weather cooperates. Inside there are different rooms with a café area in the front where fondue is popular and a more formal dining room at the back. It's a good idea to book.
